Christian Medicine, both as a movement and a series of books, attempts to answer some of the most basic theology and life questions: Why do we suffer? Why does a loving God allow us to feel pain? And what is our proper response to pain and suffering, given our technological advances and reliance on the healthcare industry?

Christian Medicine acknowledges humanity's place on this earth and in the universe. We are created by God and have a need and reliance on Him that is paramount and must be acknowledged for our souls' sake. Any true healing must begin with our humble reliance on God.
Next, to further healing with the tools God has graciously bestowed on us, we must look at the five aspects of our lives:
-
Our Mental Life
-
Our Spiritual Life (further developing our walk with Christ)
-
Our Physical Life ( medications, exercise, surgeries, and all things biologically based)
-
Our Social Life
-
Our Environmental World (both our physical environment and our informational world)

Christian Medicine then looks at each area to formulate a comprehensive response to our suffering. With Christ at the forefront, a strategy of treatment and help can begin. We can then engage the medical world with an open heart and a greater understanding of what medicine can and cannot do. True healing can begin, no matter what our issues and illnesses are.

Is anyone of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. Is anyone of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. James 3:13-16
